Conference

Under the title BIOTOPE CITY in november 2002 an international conference took place at the University of Technology Eindhoven

The conference gave a new view on city and urban life - the city no longer regarded as the counterpoint of nature, but as an integral environment for human beings, flora en fauna. Outstanding speakers from science and the practice of architecture and urbanism developed this concept. Besides theoretical reflections, examples from different cities as Potsdam, Berlin, Tokyo and Vienna were presented, experiments that show a successful integration of nature and city: new forms for urbanity which combine high density with space for green and nature in an original way.
