NATURE and CITY: paradox or contradiction?
Fons Elders
Nature and Cityposes the historical question which ideas, be it religious, scientific or economic, have been instrumental in the development of the modern concept of nature. The modern concept of nature may be qualified as a human aspiration to conquer nature.
In order to transform this concept of nature into a more responsible and respectful one, the author argues for a creative imagination that is able and willing to question main features and practices of our culture. In stead of men, dominating nature, nature has to become the alpha and the omega in a renewed philosophy of culture.
